Gouache

Okay so this is probably my favorite piece that I made for this exhibition. It was SO fun too. This was my first time using this technique with gouache and I think it was pretty successful. Referenced from two different photographs.
My friend bought this one and has it hanging in her living room with all her amazing black and white photography and I feel so honored ;A;

I really like painting in black and white. I should do it more often. It's very liberating, I often spend way too much time fretting about color.

beautiful details! I especially like the beak and the feathers under the eye. I'm very jelly of your friend :T

thank you so much! yeah I'm actually pretty proud of the beak, those things are hard to shade! I don't really understand their shape, I should find myself an eagle skull or something and practice drawing it.

Oooo, that'd be awesome. I like drawing eagles for fun when I'm bored, but if I don't don't often enough I forget how beaks work so quickly ;u;
I just recently bought my first skull ever, a coyote. I was thinking of getting some sort of bird next.

oh that's so awesome! I don't have any bones or skulls, I'd like to perhaps collect a few for reference drawing and just general perspective on the animal. It'd be even more awesome if I could find one in the woods or something.

Yeah, I've been loving it, it'll come in handy especially because I like drawing skeleton-like creatures haha. On ebay, I found mine for just like 15 bucks in perfect condition O:
Oh! That reminds me, I have a song bird skull that came from my backyard, it's just gotta be cleaned lol no idea how tho

I've heard boiling is a method to clean it, but don't take my word on that.
